July 2nd-David Archuleta is my Homie
Had an amazing week!
Tuesday! We taught this guy named mike! He is so prepared! When we asked if he had read the Book of Mormon, he said "I've read a little bit, but I decided to do a little bit of research and watch the movie first" me and my companions looked at each other and thought he was gonna pull out some anti Mormon movie or a recording of the play, but it was a book of Mormon movie made in the 80s by the church. After he showed us that, he said "I've done my research, and I know it's true. It has more truth than the king James bible" after we asked how he knew that he said "I don't know how, I just do" at that point we went all out! We all got excited and Mike was having a great time! He said more things like "man, I know I gotta read it all" "I wanna be baptized and stand as a witness!" "I wanna help others and stand as a witness!" "I want eternal life man!" Most of what he said was not even prompted by us, we hardly taught him anything, he just spouted out doctrinal truth to us! It was hilarious! We go back sometime this week. When they talked about people Bring prepared in the MTC, this is what the meant!
Friday we went to a less actives house named Erin and were met my her roommate, Heather at the door who said she wasn't home. As we were talking to her at the door, Erin came home. After talking for a bit,she said we could teach her a lesson. As we began to teach in the back yard, Heather asked if she could join us. So we taught both of them a fantastic restoration lesson. I felt like I actually taught by the spirit for the first time. It was a very spiritual lesson and both took our challenge to read and pray about the Book of Mormon for a week.
Sunday, we had our monthly temple music devotional. We had David Archuleta perform! It was so amazing! David is so nice and kind. He is not as awkward as we thought he was going to be He sang a few songs and talked about his mission. It was an incredibly powerful night. After, he shook hands with all the people there which was a lot! He gave all the missionaries hugs and afternoon a picture with us. Since my companions were kinda in charge, we got to stick around and see David off. Elder Kema asked him for some final advice and he said "rely on Grace, the Atonement is a wonderful thing" we gave him another hug and he left. It was righteous. So David Archuleta is basically my homie now.
It was definitely a week to remember! Transfers are this week and Elder Lichtenberg leaves soon. It's sad, me and Elder Kema don't know what's gonna happen with us but were probably staying in New port. Since they are zone leaders, well probably be in a trio again, because they most likely wont make me zone leader, at least I hope they don't
The scripture I've been thinking about a lot this week comes from Alma 26:12
"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." I know that I can't do anything without the strength of the Lord. I know that the only way to become a strong and consecrated missionary is by humbling my self and letting God mold me into who he wants me to become.
I love you all!
Elder Judd
