July 9-The real Missionaries of Newport Beach
Transfers came and I'm staying here with elder Kema, and we're getting elder burrows, who is awesome, I've gone on short exchanges with him and I'm super glad 'were getting him. Elder Lichtenberg is leaving so were pretty sad about that. He leaves in 2 weeks, but is moving around as a traveling AP. I love elder Lichtenberg and am super sad he's going home, but I know I need to learn from Elder burrows. I have been made district leader too. I definitely don't feel ready for the responsibility but I'm willing to serve.
We had a few good lessons this week and really learned a lot. We taught the grandparents of a service missionary so he could have an opportunity to teach. At first the grandparents were just doing it for him, then they had a change of heart during the lesson and want the gospel for themselves. I t was an awesome experience.
Also taught Jim & Andrea, who are our most progressing investigators, and was able to give them a practice baptismal interview. They both are working as hard as they can to be ready for the baptism in august. They are struggling with the idea that they only need faith, and not a perfect knowledge. I love teaching them every week and seeing their progression.
Last night Me and Elder Lichtenberg went to a youth devotional held by the real coach from the movie Forever Strong. It was incredible, I felt it answered many of the questions I was having. He talked about his experience as a mission president and following spiritual promptings. I felt the spirit so strongly during the message. I realized that I need to be in the right mind set to be receiving spiritual promptings all the time, and that I should be expecting them and not waiting for them. A scripture that came to mind during the devotional was Doctrine and Covenants 8:2-3
2 Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in your heart.
3 Now, behold, this is the spirit of revelation; behold, this is the spirit by which Moses brought the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground.
I am so grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide me. It is a gift that all members have, not only missionaries. It truly is a gift from God to lead his children and to declare truth in the hearts of all those who seek it.
I love you all.
Elder Judd
