June 18th-Even more miracles
This week was awesome.
On Tuesday a member took us and the APs to dinner at Ruby's on the Balboa peninsula pier, and it was awesome. We saw also saw dolphin tails from the top of the restaurant, which was magical to say the least. That is probably the closest ill ever get to the ocean again in my entire mission.
Wednesday we got to stop by almost all of our instigators who live at the gold mine and reconnect with them, which really helped us feel out who was still interested. Earlier that day we met a recent convert who has a daughter that just moved here that is super interested in learning more. It was a great day.
Thursday was amazing! We were on exchanges with Elder Arner who is an AP and used to be in our area, so he was a huge help to us. We started the day with 2 amazing contacts at a park, one of them has met with missionaries before and we found out that her mom is Mormon too. we left the park, very excited. later we decided to go tracting in our apartment complex. Within the first few doors we knocked we got into a lady,s house and taught an amazing lesson. She knew nothing really about God but had a desire to learn more. she is so awesome. We invited her to be baptized and after praying about it right then, she accepted. this is something we usually never do but she had such a strong desire and the spirit was prompting us to invite her so we did. we meet with her again on Tuesday. Before her, a man told us we could come back later that day to talk to his roommates, so we did. We taught another amazing first discussion with this couple from Brasil, and the spirit prompted us to invite them to be baptized. again, we never do that. and they both accepted. They want to learn more before they set a date, but they have great potential and have been looking for a church since they came to America. Later that day we invited a lady who guards the gate to a neighborhood to take the lessons, and she was thrilled. The last Miracle of the day happened on our way to dinner. We saw Stone! this is the man who had his car break down the first day we got here. When we saw him, we turned around and talked to him. When we got out of the car he was so excited to see us. He wasn't interested in the gospel, but we got his number and now we are tight. That day was packed with many miracles, and we were so grateful.
Friday we taught a 97 year old woman, and practically shouted the lesson to her. She is very sweet. She has an extremely large copy of the book of Mormon that she committed to read from everyday.
Saturday we didn't do much because planning took up most of the day. My companions are trying to let me start contacting people, because i'm terrible at it. On our way to the car, multiple people came my way and all I could say was "uhh Hi, how are you?" when they responded I would freeze, and my companions would try to save me but they couldn't stop laughing so it ended up being a very awkward.
I love my mission, and serving people! I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ as well. The scripture I have been thinking of all week is 1 Nephi 19:9 "And the world, because of the ir iniquity, shall judge him t o be a thing of naught; wheref ore they scourge him, and he s uffereth it; and they smite hi m, and he suffereth it. Yea, t hey spit upon him, and he suff ereth it, because of his lovin g kindness and his long- suffering towards the children of men." I know that Christ suffered all pains because of his love for us.
Love,
