November 19-San Clemente - The Promised Land
I am so happy to be here in San Clemente with Elders Farrer and Whitchurch! There is so much work to be done here! Elder Farrer came into two awards where the member work is amazing! I am also so excited to be in a ward with my cousins, the Garffs! this transfer is going to be so great!
This week we had tons of meetings, on Thursday we had Tasty Transfers at the stake presidents house. His house is unreal, I have never seen a bigger house in my life! I can't even describe it, it was just amazing! We ate breakfast and had a few trainings about working with the ward and being consecrated missionaries. On Friday we had Zone Conference, one of the best we have had since I have been here! They dropped a major announcement, no more member dinners as of December 1st! Since prime finding time is 5-7 they want us eating by ourselves at 4pm and finding the rest of the night! Its going to be a great change, Elder Bruce in the mission presidency is to "double our failure rate" and we definitely will, but already we have seen miracles across the mission as people have started to cancel dinners. And since we wont have dessert every night, hopefully we will start to lose weight. Its a good change. we also got to see some awesome baptisms this week, a whole Brazilian family got baptized and there were over 300 people at it. The members are working so hard to find us new seekers of truth.
We are working hard here in San Clemente and are already seeing some wonderful things happen here. The field is so white and already to harvest. we are grateful for the members and missionaries who planted the seeds here before us. Since I have been here I have felt like Ammon who tells king Lamoni he could serve the people for the rest of his life...
Alma 17:23
And Ammon said unto him: Yea, I desire to dwell among this people for a time; yea, and perhaps until the day I die.
I love San Clemente and could serve here the rest of my mission.
Elder Farrer and I have been trying to memorize a scripture a day, and we memorized 2nd Nephi 32:3
Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
This scripture means alot to me. I have struggled with having effective personal study most of my mission and this scripture gives me the hope that having effective studies will always help me in the future. I know that as I treasure the words of Christ in the scriptures my ability to teach with them will be better. The scriptures I study will come to me when I need them, as it says in the promise in D&C 84:85
Neither take ye thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man.
I love the scriptures, I love my Savior, I love his gospel, and I love being a missionary.
love,
Elder Judd
